Fairford RIAT 2017: part three, a small miscellany
I’m going to close this short series of blog posts on this year’s RIAT with a small selection of pictures of various aircraft. It was an amazing display overall, from the unexpected appearance of a B-2 to a phenomenal display by an Italian Typhoon pilot in such low cloud he could hardly have seen where he was going; he disappeared entirely in condensing vapour from time to time.
I won’t put too many pictures up here: I’ve put a set on Flickr, which is still growing at the time of writing.
RIAT 2017 this year celebrated the 70th anniversary of the US Air Force. As a result, they put on the most amazing presence, even flying in a B-2 from the US especially for a couple of passes up and down in front of the crowd (see opening image).
A B-1B arrived as well, solely to go on static display.
A couple of other stars: the French Couteau Delta Mirage 2000 team and the Ukrainian SU-27. In all, wonderful. Now, if only I could get to MAKS, and OshKosh … ☺
